Ryan Franklin came through with a solid 3 innings at the ballpark as the
Tombstone Huckleberries pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Detroit
Iron Gloves by the count of 6 to 5.
Tombstone had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 2 runs
using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Mike Lowell keyed the rally when he
reached on an error. Torii Hunter stepped up to the plate and he drew a
walk. After another out, Yunel Escobar came up and he delivered a single to
load the bases. Ichiro Suzuki followed and he ripped a base-knock, and an
error was also committed, driving home two runs. Despite losing, Detroit
out-hit Tombstone 13 to 8.
Franklin(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. J.J. Putz
earned the save, his 1st. Jon Garland(0-1) was hit with the loss.
'The only way this one could have been better', said Franklin, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
